If you deal with different kinds of Li-ion batteries on a daily basis, then I suggest this charger from Nitecore. It is highly compatible with most of the Li-ion, Ni-cad, and Ni-MH batteries. This package includes a pack of 8 EdisonBright Ni-HM batteries to serve your purpose.

Despite the impressive compatibility, using this charger is surprisingly easy. Just insert the battery and choose the battery type manually. The charger is made smart enough to detect the battery type and select the charging mode.

To enjoy these advancements, you have to pay a little extra for this charger. People who work with different types of batteries will find one solution in this charger. Its quality is certified by different authorities, so there is less chance of having a bad experience out of it.

  • Ni-MH / Ni-Cd: AA, AAA, AAAA, C and D;
  • In the package: Nitecore i4 charger, EdisonBright BBX3 battery box and 2X EdisonBright AA to D battery converter spacers.

This latest model from Nitecore is made a little more budget friendly and less time consuming. It is advertised as twice fast charging and literally gets the job done within minutes. Like other models of Nitecore chargers, this one is also highly compatible. Included equipment helps to fit in AA and D type batteries as well.

After insertion of the batteries, this charger instantly detects the batteries and sets the voltage and current accordingly. When charging is done, it notifies the user with its lights. Its auto shut off mechanism only works after 20 hours of plug in to prevent overheating.

It would be nice if it had the auto shut off function for each battery. But its fast charging capability gives the relief from charging multiple batteries for a long time. With its 12v plug, you can charge your batteries using a car battery when the power is out. For the affordable price, it is a good universal charger.

Things We Liked

  • Fast charging;
  • Comes with equipment to charge AA and D batteries;
  • High compatibility;
  • Can charge different batteries with ease.

Things We Didn’t Like

  • Does not have auto off up on full charge of batteries.

3. EBL Battery Charger for Li-ion/IMR / Ni-MH/Ni-Cd

EBL Battery Charger
  • Slot for battery: 2;
  • Compatible with:
  • Ni-MH Ni-CD rechargeable batteries: AA, AAA, C (1.2Volt 500mA±50mA*2);
  • Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries: 18650, 18490, 26650, 22650, 14500, 10440, 17670, 17550 and 16340 (RCR123);
  • In the package: EBL Battery Charger, User Manual and an AC adapter.

18650 batteries are used in lots of devices we use daily such as the 18650 chargers. But a considerable number of vapers look for chargers which are smaller in size so that those can be carried easily. EBL charger is made considering the requirements of vapers. It is not just only in good quality and shape, but also made smaller in size, so that you can put this in your pocket and carry it all day.

The best thing about this charger is, it is ETL certified, hence its quality is beyond questionable.  Besides, it can use both AC and DC current. Over charging and overheating is less likely to happen with this charger due to its auto shut off feature.

This charger does all the things it was advertised with. But for professionals, I would recommend looking for a charger with four slots and higher compatibility. This one is more fair for travelers and users on budget.

Things We Liked

  • Portable;
  • Budget friendly price;
  • Auto shut off when charged full.

Things We Didn’t Like

  • 2 battery slots only.

4. COSOOS 18650 Smart Battery Charger

COSOOS 18650 Smart Battery Charger
  • Slot for battery: 8;
  • Compatible with:
  • Work withLi-ion (4.2V/4.35V) / IMR / INR / ICR/ LiFePO4(3.60V): 10340, 10350, 10440, 10500, 12340, 12500, 12650, 13450, 13500, 13650, 14350, 14430,14500, 14650, 16500,16340(RCR123), 16650, 17350, 17500, 17650, 17670, 18350, 18490,18500,18650, 18700, 20700, 21700, 22500, 22650,25500, 26500, 26650;
  • Single-channel charging current up to 1.5A;
  • In the package: MiBOXER Battery Charger, User Manual and USB Wire.

The point of using a 18650 charger with multiple slots is to charge a mix of batteries of different requirements. Most of the chargers in the market automatically detect the battery type (volt, capacity, etc) and supply current accordingly. But batteries with lower capacity need a manual setting of lower current supply. In MiBoxer 8 slot charger, you can manually select the amperage of the low capacity battery and ensure charging without damaging the battery.

Another amazing function is repairing lithium-ion batteries; if you have batteries that show ‘0 voltage’ can be regained their power simply by placing them in this charger. The attached LCD display shows the charging state but percentage, which is more accurate than showing LED lights or bars. The charger has several safety protection for the batteries and charger itself. It ensures stress-free charging for years.

Included USB wire lets you use the charger almost anywhere and everywhere. This wire gives this charger portability despite its 8 slots that cannot be found in the other 4 slot chargers in the market. For an 8 slot charger, the price is quite reasonable, it is much less than paying for 2 chargers with 4 slots.

Things We Liked

  • 8 slots;
  • Easy to operate;
  • Manual setting for low capacity batteries;
  • Comes with a USB wire;
  • High-quality charger.

Things We Didn’t Like

  • No cons.

5. XTAR VC4S 18650 Smart Universal Fast Battery Charger

XTAR VC4S 18650 Smart Universal Fast Battery Charger
  • Slot for battery: 4;
  • Apply to 3.6V/3.7V Li-ion/IMR/INR/ICR batteries:
  • 10440 14500 14650 16340 17335 17500 17670 18350 18490 18500 18650 18700 20700 21700 22650 25500 26650 32650;
  • Automatically starts 3A charging when the resistance is low.

Everyone doesn’t need an 8 slot charger on a daily basis. So, Miboxer launched these 4 slot 18650 fast chargers with similar advantages as their previously reviewed 8 slots charger. If you are already amazed at the features of the 8 slots Miboxer charger but need a smaller one, then this review is just for you.

Like the previous one, this charger also lets you select the current for a low-capacity battery. It has an automatic setting as well that detects what the battery needs and charges accordingly. Apart from the USB port in the packaging, this charger is also compatible with DC12V car chargers. Now you can charge your batteries on the go.

This 4 slot charger costs less than half of the 8 slots. For a quality device that comes with a long warranty, this price is negligible.

Things We Liked

  • Compatible with  DC12V car chargers;
  • Repairs 0 voltage batteries;
  • Reasonably priced;
  • Has manual settings for low-capacity batteries.

Things We Didn’t Like

  • The Manual is not very helpful.

6. Universal 18650 Battery Charger LCD Display by Keenstone

Universal 18650 Battery Charger LCD Display by Keenstone
  • Slot for the battery: 4;
  • Compatible with:   Li-ion LiFePO4 IMR INR ICR 25500 22650 𝟏𝟖𝟔𝟓𝟎 18490 18500 18350 16340 RCR123A 14500 10440 Batteries, Ni-MH Ni-Cd A AA AAA AAAA SC Batteries;
  • Output Voltage 4.2V/3.65V/1.5V 500mA*4 / 1000mA*4.

It is a 4 slot charger from Keenstone. We have previously reviewed another 4 slot chargers from EBL. The major difference between the two is, this one comes with a car adapter and the EBL one comes with an AC adapter. People consider chargers with car adapters to keep those in their car always; so that they can always stay prepared even if left home without charging those life-saving batteries.

This charger is a smart one, like all the chargers we have reviewed in this list. Other than identifying the batteries automatically, it shows the battery type along with other information (charging state, capacity, resistance, etc). It is a universal charger as the name claims; so, you don’t have to worry about compatibility when you are heading for traveling around.

For some, its two slots are perfect to put the charger in their pocket wherever they go. Others may find it insufficient to meet their all demands. In my opinion, a two-slot charger is best for traveling or charging necessary items on the go. 4 or six slots are best for home and workplaces.

Things We Liked

  • Durably made;
  • Universal battery;
  • Smart universal charger LCD display for rechargeable batteries;
  • Overcharge protected.

Things We Didn’t Like

  • No cons.

7. XTAR 18650 Universal Intelligent Charger LCD Display

XTAR 18650 Universal Intelligent Charger LCD Display
  • Slot for the battery: 4;
  • Apply to 3.6V/3.7V Li-ion/IMR/INR/ICR batteries: 10440 14500 14650 16340 17500 17670 18350 18490 18500 18650 18700 20700 21700 22650 25500 26650 1.2V Ni-MH / Ni-CD: AAAA / AAA / AA / A / SC / C;
  • Adjustable Constant Current:1@3A,2@2A, 4@1A,8@ 0.5A.

This one is the most versatile charger I reviewed in this list. Other than charging cylinder-shaped rechargeable batteries, this device can work as a power bank, can discharge, refresh and test batteries. This one device can replace 4 to 5 devices from your toolbox.

With the included adapter, you can use this charger as a power bank when you are in a hurry. Just make sure all the slots are busy with batteries. It ‘charges’ in a blink and ‘discharges’ partially charged batteries to lengthen the battery life. You can ‘refresh’ your used/defective batteries or ‘test’ the good ones for more assurance. All these can be done by easy changing of ‘MODE’ of the charger.

The only thing I noticed is, the plastic body is less durable compared to other chargers within this price. However, the versatility of this charger makes this one more useful than other chargers in times of emergencies.

Things We Liked

  • Versatile battery;
  • Can charge, discharge, and test batteries;
  • Works as a power bank;
  • Eliminates memory effect.

Things We Didn’t Like

  • No cons.

8. Zanflare Universal Battery Charger with Car Adapter

8. Zanflare Universal Battery Charger with Car Adapter

This charger is somewhat less fancy compared to other 4 slot chargers of this list. Fewer options lets you operate any device in less hassle. So, the ease of operation is the best feature of this device. Besides, with the included power and car charging adapter, this charger earns your faith that you can charge any batteries anywhere.

There are 3 modes of charging. Other than just charging batteries, you can identify and refresh the batteries manually with ‘FAST test’ and ‘NOR test. This charger does not have any discharge button. Other than this, it is a useful one to keep alive all your new and old batteries of varying capacities.

It offers 4 different currents for each of the slots. You can choose from 300mA / 500mA / 700mA / 1000mA depending on the capacity of the batteries you want to charge. If any battery is not inserted properly, the LCD will show ‘NULL’ and when charged fully, it will show ‘FULL’. Besides, other useful info regarding the batteries will be displayed as well. It is a handy and reliable tool for me.

Things We Liked

  • Sturdy construction;
  • Travel friendly;
  • Operates with AC/DC current;
  • Power bank functionality.

Things We Didn’t Like

  • Does not support LiFe PO4;
  • Refreshing the battery takes longer.

Usage of 18650 battery Charger

Though using a battery charger is nothing complicated, you need to be concerned about a few things while charging your batteries. It’ll help you to avoid any type of danger.

  • Battery chargers are directional, so while charging your batteries, make sure that your batteries are on the right way. Otherwise, you may have the risk of running on fire or explosion or even damage to the battery and the charger itself.
  • Another thing you need to be concerned about is never leave the charger unattended. While charging batteries, monitor the charging level to avoid overcharging your batteries or any other accident.
  • You can set a timer to unplug the charger after charging your battery. Or you can also unplug the charger if it is getting very hot.

Features of the Best Charger:

You’ll find a number of battery chargers available in the market. But having a right battery charger can save your time and batteries.

So to get the perfect one you need to be concerned about a few basic features. And they are-

1. Safety

The first and most important feature you need to look for in a 18650 battery charger is safety. Because you must want a charger that will handle your batteries safely as 18650 batteries are delicate in nature.

So choose a charger that has the automatic shut off feature when the battery is fully charged.

2. Charging Speed

Battery charger with higher amps can charge your battery faster. But it also makes the charger hot. Which is not good for Li-ion cells.

A charger that is running on 0.5 -0.1 amps is safe for batteries. So for your 18650 batteries, the charger with the rate of 0.5 – 0.1 amps and is able to handle four batteries is the best choice.

3. Indicators

A battery charger with the indicator will allow you to know the charging progress of your battery. So you never have to be worried about getting your batteries overcharged and this will help you to prolong the battery life.

4. Number of Ports

If the charger comes with more than one USB output port you can have the benefit of charging your other devices like- smartphone, iPad or MP3.

5. Charging Technology

Another thing you need to look for when choosing a battery charger for your 18650 batteries is charging time. Because not all the available chargers can charge batteries quickly. So having one with this feature can give you the advantage of getting your battery charged faster at the time of emergency.

6. Charging Bays

Having a charger with independent charging bays will reduce the charging time while charging batteries simultaneously. Because of this type of chargers, charging bays don’t have to share the circuit, so you can have your batteries charged fairly quickly.

7. Optional Features

If the charger you’re going to buy has the power band function, Bluetooth connectivity or compatibility features, you can charge other types of batteries, like- NiMH batteries, with this.
